Growing Orchids Under Lights with Barry Lubin and Julie Hall
The September meeting’s main presentation, “Growing Orchids Under Lights” will feature fellow member and past president Barry Lubin. Barry will be joined by fellow member Julie Hall to share their growing guidance. Whether you are considering experimenting with lights or are already an established grower of orchids under lights, their talk is sure to enlighten everyone with their strategies and experiences. Both Barry and Julie are fabulous, AOS award-winning growers.
Conservation Update with Lawrence Zettler, Ph.D.
We are also delighted to be joined by Lawrence Zettler, Ph.D., Hitchcock Professor of Biology at Illinois College, and Chairman, Scientific Council, Orchid Conservation Chelsea. Larry will update us on the orchid conservation work that he and his team are doing locally and internationally. Larry will share how orchid societies’ support of orchid conservation, including that of the Illinois Orchid Society, has had a positive impact on efforts with Platanthera leucophaea, known more commonly as the Eastern Prairie Fringed Orchid, and other species.
